Naim Audio was established back in 1973 by Julian Vereker, a well-known British racecar driver and self-taught engineer. Vereker had a passion for music and spent a lot of his spare time listening to his favorite songs from the 60s. However, he was disappointed with the quality of audio coming from the amplifiers of the time and decided, that he would design his own sound system from scratch.

He set out to develop his own amplifier, as well as his own loudspeaker, focusing on the quality and range of his equipment. After Julian designed the audio equipment for a local radio station using amplifiers of his own design, he opened his first shop right in the heart of Salisbury, England.

Today, many of the products manufactured by Naim Audio conform to the same beliefs of its founder, which focuses on the accurate reproduction of live music events in the home environment.
